Support » Fixing WordPress » Double index.php

  • I’ve been having a frustrating time trying to figure out my permalinks. First of all I was informed that my links bring up blank pages so I went to check it out. I noticed that when I click on the “terms and conditions” link for example I’m taken to this url:

    website.com/index.php/index.php/terms-conditions/

It’s blank. It’s the same for every link except for “home” every reference to the home page including ones called by php in the template take me to:

website.com/index.php this url is also a blank page, but if I remove the index.php from the end in the address bar the homepage comes up properly.

I’ve been going around and around trying different styles of permalinks, I even once tried to change the site url under general and had to go into the database to fix it.

One thing I should mention but don’t know if it’s related is that I tried to upgrade my version of WordPress to the latest one and it told me that I was running PHP4 on my host (Yahoo). So I went into the admin on Yahoo and changed it to 5. Yahoo says I’m running 5 now but WordPress still claims I’m running 4 and won’t let me update. I don’t think I hd the problem with the homepage link until I upgraded to PHP 5.

Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

Thanks, I’ll give that a whirl and let you know if it works.
