Double-clicking .pdf gives .htaccess error

    Hi, I’m facing a problem.

    When I double-click a docx file, it opens in Word (or downloads it, depending on browser settings).

    Downloading a PDF file works fine, however when I double-click the PDF, I get the message:
    “Forbidden
    You don’t have permission to access this resource.Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe”

    I hoped to create a .htaccess file that would allow downloading/opening PDF-files right from the server by double-clicking. Is that possible?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    @anton_th, looks like your server has some security restrictions to access the files direct from the url. Could you please confirm with your hosting providers once?
