  • I am not sure where the good reviews are coming from, but this program is bad medicine. I deactivated it before going to bed last night only to wake up and find it had been sending me email alerts every couple of minutes or so all night. In addition the program was preventing people from accessing the site. The setup for this is ridiculous. It is long, complicated and badly written. There are other programs than this one. Be forewarned because if you screw up anything in the half-day required to set up this mess you will pay. In addition, God knows what they were tracking and what stuff their program installed on my site and my computer.

Sorry you ran into problems. The good reviews are obviously coming from folks who are genuinely very happy with BPS website security protection. 😉 BPS plugin setup is pretty simple these days. It actually only requires one click by you to run the Setup Wizard, which automatically sets everything up for you.

Not sure what you found complicated or long winded. If you would like to explain things in more detail then I can answer any questions you may have.

BPS problems are usually very quick and easy to solve and typically only take minutes to fix, but maybe there is some other issue going on with your particular website or something like that???

We don’t track anything because that goes against the WordPress rules for any/all WordPress Plugins. BPS is a website plugin for WordPress. So it does not have the capability to affect things like your computer or even your web host control panel. When you uninstall the BPS plugin on the WordPress Plugins page all BPS DB option settings (plugin settings), files and anything else is removed/deleted. BPS does not add/change anything else about your website besides adding BPS plugin files and BPS plugin DB option settings (plugin settings).

It sounds like you had an older version of the BPS plugin installed, which used to send you email alerts when the BPS plugin was deactivated. We got rid of that in the last version of BPS (or maybe the BPS version before that) because folks did not like that security feature and found it more of a nuisance than a benefit.

I assume you no longer want to use BPS and have uninstalled BPS, but if you still want to try and use BPS then I would need to see some BPS Security Log entries to be able to tell you what was causing this problem – “…the program was preventing people from accessing the site…“. BPS occasionally blocks something it should not be blocking and the solution is typically very simple and normally only takes just a few minutes to implement.

Once again sorry you ran into problems.
