Support » Plugin: Shield Security: Protection with Smarter Automation » don't send email if autoupdates fail to update anything

  • Hi,
I have a few plugins that are premium plugins, and for some reason the autoupdate plugins options is trying to update them, but failing (so I get something like ‘plugins updated: plugin was updated to 1.2.1) but nothing is updated. So in this case, I believe it shouldn’t send an email saying it updated something, or perhaps only send one email saying autoupdates failed until the update is done manually or succeeds, then reset the status. This would just help with daily emails of ‘plugin updated’ if you don’t have time to update it manually.
    Thanks,
    -Michael.

I’ll check the code to ensure that it’s definitely a success when sending out emails. This is also tricky for premium plugins as things may get populated outside of our control. I might actually start adding debug data to these emails so I can track the source of these false emails – you’re not the only one to see this unfortunately.

My next question is do you ever get these false emails with non-premium plugins?

    Hi,
No, I’ve never gotten them without premium plugins.

Then these premium plugin developers need to test the WordPress automatic updates system/cron with their update implementation.
