    I can confirm that our dashboard notices are considered compliant with that guideline by the WP plugins team, since they are dismissible and rare (annual), and don’t perform any third-party (or even first-party) tracking, and are not across every dashboard page. (If you see something different, that’s a bug – please provide specific details including screenshots).

    We appreciate that ultimately people would love brilliant functionality and no “quid pro quo” of any kind. We all would. Sadly, in that situation, we’d not be able to have as much funds to invest in actually improving, maintaining and supporting the plugin, so it wouldn’t just be “same plugin, without the notice I don’t like”. We sell a Premium version that doesn’t have them if you are willing to buy that. You are also probably clever enough to remove them by CSS too. Or, you can click once annually. Unfortunately, a plugin with almost a million installs can be expected to generate $10 or so in donations annually!
