• Was fairly happy with this plugin, and even renewed recently. Then they decided to spam pro users by putting adverts in post/page editors for some ‘service’ they offer at $49 per month.

When a company decides that your website is their billboard they can no longer be trusted.

I’m attempting to get a refund now, and will be removing this plugin where it is being used. I will update this if they do refund. My first response from them was not encouraging. Basically, it states that their ads will not affect the functionality of the plugin so, sorry if you’re offended, but tough.

Extremely unhappy with Squirrly now. Just another plugin I *used* to recommend that decided to go this route. I’m going to stop recommending any premium plugin since the developers cannot seem to understand that my sites are not theirs to do with as they please.

Thank you for the feedback. I’m sorry for upsetting you.

I understand the concern. I have a couple of themes on my sites that display their latest and brightest. And after a while it becomes annoying.

The message only showed up for four days and only to PRO users of Squirrly. The reason is this: PRO users have asked us to find a way for them to get SERP info even if they are on shared hostings or shared IPs. Most of them didn’t want to switch hosts, so they needed a solution from us.

We spent time building this ONLY for our PRO user community, at their request. We made a deal with GEO Ranker for this and we already pay monthly fees ourselves for keeping the service active.

Considering that we did build this for our PRO users, it made sense to announce people that we did what was requested of us. We care about feedback from customers.

There is more info about the shared hosting issues faced by users on the landing page for the SERP Product, that you mentioned seeing.

We need to act on the feedback we get. However, we care about the space in your WP admin, and our sole purpose was to announce that we finished building the requested product. It went on 4 days, to make sure everyone saw it.

My purpose is to get things done and help our PRO community get the tools and results that they need. This product is mostly volunteer work, because it will not be a best-seller kind of product. That was not the goal with it. We built it to serve. It only makes sense to announce it.

Again, thank you for the feedback and I hope my message clarified what went down. (because I’m sure you were out there thinking: “these people have gone insane. why would they do something like this?”)
