WordPress MU Domain Mapping
[resolved] Domains with www. prefix redirected to domains themselves (4 posts)

    Hi all,

I have a domain mapped to one of my network's site. I want to use both http://www.example.com and example.com. But I want to use them separate, not by redirection.

Currently if I enter http://www.example.com/ into my browser, it is redirected to http://example.com/. All links in displayed page also are using http://example.com. There is no way I can use domain with www. prefix.

I've added both domains (with and without www. prefix) to Tools > Domain Mapping in my site, but it still does not change any thing.

My ISP told me that redirection http://www.example.com/ --> http://example.com/ is not made on server side, therefore it must be done either by WordPress or plugin itself.

Any idea, if this, what I want, is possible and how to achieve it?

Only map the www version of the domain and add a redirect to your htaccess to redirect the non-www version to the www version.

If you are going to use both, the www will always be redirected to the non-www (as that is a feature of WP networks).
