Domain points to wrong site

    About a year ago I created a wordpress.com site with domain registration upgrade. I recently wanted to switch to wordpress.org so I transferred the domain and registered it under the new host “DreamHost”, changed nameservers etc. etc. I installed wordpress.org there and everything should be fine. However, when I go to my URL sometimes it still goes to the old wordpress.com site, and same thing with the admin login and such… sometimes it goes to the new site… I cant really determine what causes it.

    Long story short, I want to get rid of the old wordpress.com site completely (cant delete it because of domain registration upgrade) Any thoughts as to why the old site is still showing up sometimes? even though domain has been completely transferred to another host / registration / nameservers?

    I think you need to have a word with Dreamhost about this. It sounds like there may be intermittent issues with the name servers. To that end, I flagged this topic up for the attention of one of their WordPress support people.
