I am successfully using domain mapping within wp mu, but I need a slightly different behavior and I am not sure how to accomplish it.

    I have set up a site, myexample.com

I have several sub sites working e.g. site1.myexample.com and site2.myexample.com

I want each site to be able to have server aliases, but also have their normal url work.

for instance, site1.myexample.com contains content, and I want traffic to get directed to it for some external url e.g. bobsCars.com such that traffic for bobsCars.com/about would show content for site1.myexample.com/about. This is working but it is actually redirecting the url to site1 instead of just showing the content but leaving the url as bobsCars.com

Is there any way I can get wp to show the site1 content, but not change the url? (e.g. use the domain as an alias, not a redirect) ?

Turn off the redirect in your DM settings.

Can you please elaborate about that setting (where is it found?)

    The settings I see are:

    1 Remote Login
2 Permanent redirect (better for your blogger’s pagerank)
    3 User domain mapping page
4 Redirect administration pages to site’s original domain (remote login disabled if this redirect is disabled)
5 Disable primary domain check. Sites will not redirect to one domain name. May cause duplicate content issues.

    I have 1,3,4 ticked

    5. … Sites will not redirect …
