I’ve had my WP multisite in the root of my site (public_html/). I just installed the WPMU Domain Mapping plugin without a problem using the installation instruction and Otto’s guide. I’m able to access the subsite through the mapped domain, BUT when I try to log in to that site’s dashboard it gives me this error:

The domain mapping plugin only works if the site is installed in /. This is a limitation of how virtual servers work and is very difficult to work around.

I’m new at this but I’m thinking this means that WP should have been installed in the root (public_html/), which it is. Am I right or does this mean something else?

Where did you add the define('SUNRISE', 'on'); to your wp-config.php?

Where the other define commands are, right before the “stop editing” part.

Is that not where it goes? =o/

    Yes, that’s the correct location.

Check the quotation marks on that define line to see if any of them are encoded quotation marks. That used to trigger a fatal error with older versions of PHP but I’ve seen newer versions just ignore the line.

I had abandoned this because I got frustrated. I tried again and fixed it. Thank you sooooo much. It was a silly error on my part. I had a space between the first parenthesis and the quotation mark. =oS
Thanks again for your help. =o)
