Nameservers would be set on the server where your domain name is registered – either your host or a different company.
BTW, if you registered the domain through WordPress.COM, you need to login to your account there and do this there – WordPress.ORG (here) is not the same.
Thanks,
I am confused:) My web host tells me, that this information should come from wordpress? not my postmaster.
For what I have understood I have to find the “place” in WP, where I map my domaine name (not registered through wordpress.com) to the WP server. They will afterwards change it in my DNS records.
I am trying to find out where I map my domaine name to the WP server?
That would only be on WordPress.COM – and it does not sound like your site or your domain name is related to WordPress.COM. See:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.ORG does not host any sites or have any domain name info.
BTW, the plugin you mentioned above is for use on Multisite installations – which I don’t think you are running?
My my my,..
I have no idea if I am running wordpress.com or org, but come to think about it and after some research it most be .org. Thanks!
All I know if this.
1. I bought a domaine name and a web hotel at Webtonet Webhosting (Denmark)
2. I made a blog in Blogger / google and change my DNS setting in order to have the domaine name point to this server. It worked!
3. I wanted a WP instead, and downloaded https://wordpress.org
4. I imported the stuff from Blogger and installed WP at my web hotel.
5. It worked for some time, and sometimes it doesn’t. My web hotel says that google is reporting an error 404.
6. I go crazy figuring out what to do with it….
I seems like I should switch to wordpress.com – or can I do that?
You CAN move your site to WordPress.COM but it’s entirely different (NO plugins), and frankly, you’d still have to set the nameservers at the registar for your domain name. What’s the problem with doing that?
Where is your domain name registered?
What is the domain name (site URL)?
I made a blog in Blogger / google and change my DNS setting in order to have the domaine name point to this server. It worked!
So now change those to the host you are currently using for your site.
Thanks for trying to help. I am still not getting of this, but I appreciate it.
I have finally had a break through with my web hosting, and they will erase the cname and have it pointed to their server instead. Why it took so long to get – I don’t know. But it seems like I’ve run the Web marathon today.
My domaine name is hosted at this site https://www.webhosting.dk and my url is http://historieland.dk
Okay, so now I see a WP site at that URL – everything seems to be working on your end?
Yes, I know – that’s the annoying part. It is only sometimes, that it can’t be showed and reports an error. Anyways, I try to fix it that way and hope that it will stop sending an error message from time to time.
