Domain Mapping (4 posts)

    Hello, need some help/clarification here.
I have a self hosted blog and I want my domain example.com to be the blog's URL. In other words currently visiting my .com redirects to example.com/blog.
How do I configure so that example.com is the default home landing page? (not /blog)

I've searched ad nauseum and everything I find keeps explaining multi user sites and domain mapping. I assume what I desire is in fact domain mapping, however I will be using this for only one site/domain so do I really he MU? Is that the only option for mapping?

    All wisdom will be appreciated.
    Thank You.

No, you don't need domain mapping - that's for when you want foo.com to really be hosted on your multisite at bar.com. In your case, it sounds like you just need to say "use the domain name itself and not the name of the folder in which WordPress is installed". For that, follow the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

Yes indeed, that's exactly what I want!
Figured no need for multi and there had to be a better way.
    Will get that going tonight.
    Thank you very much Amy!

    I have a main domain http://www.madanireview.info
I created subdomain called “reviewsofproactol” (Reviews of Proactol)
    Which became http://reviewsofproatol.madanireview.info
Now I learnt about domain mapping
    I want http://reviewsofproatol.madanireview.info to http://www.reviewsofproactol.info
    Is it possible?
Do I need to buy another domain “reviewsofproactol.info” or my existing subdomain will be mapped as “reviewsofproactol.info”
    I am bit confused because
    1. if I have to purchase a domain and then map then what is the use of domain mapping
    2. If you don’t need to purchase the domain then why people pay to buy domains if they can just utilize domain mapping.
    Please explain
