I have set up WooCommerce on a local test site and tried logging on using the email address instead of the username, and even though the input field did prompt for “Username or email address *”, it was not actually possible to log in when using the email address.
Was this the same for you?

Yes you are right. This appears since the wordpress version 4.xx (I don’t remember exactly). It has been added for security reason, now user cannot login with email but unfortunately the text “with email” is always displayed… this is very bad because woocommerce customers get this error message and create some confusions for them. That’s why your plugin should be a good way to disable this displayed “with email” text
I have just committed version 1.3.0 to add support for WooCommerce.
Can you check whether this version works for you?
