• Right out of the box this plugin is problematic. It really is a whole illustration of what problematic wordpress plugins look like. A “free” plugin that has almost no functionality designed at every turn to try and get you to pay them.

    1. It tries to trick you into downloading other bloatware plugins. This plugin is bloaty enough by itself, but it funnels you into one of those “setup wizards” and hides automatic checkboxes down at the bottom of the page past the scroll, when the “continue” button is at the top to try and trick you into downloading and agreeing to stuff.

    2. The plugin adds TWELVE menu items to your admin menu, a menu bar at the top and most of the the items are pro nags or advertising links to their other plugins. There is spam nags EVERYWHERE.

    3. I couldn’t even get the thing to work. Everything I clicked is a prompt saying “Sorry, you need to pay for PRO to do this.” even when trying to get the basic functionality working. It is so convoluted and bloated it’s unusable.

It even nags you when you deactivate it.

This was a complete waste of time.

    Hi @kingdingbat,

Thanks for sharing your feedback — I hear your frustration.

We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with the plugin has been disappointing. While WowStore is designed to provide advanced WooCommerce customization via the Gutenberg builder (with a free core and extended Pro features), it sounds like the onboarding and UI weren’t as smooth as they should’ve been for you.

    Regarding your points:

    1. Setup wizard & plugin suggestions – It’s meant to guide new users quickly, but we understand how selected checkboxes can feel misleading. We’ll share this with the dev team to review the UX flow. But we don’t auto-install the plugin until you click to install it.

    2. Admin menu clutter – I agree that the admin UI should remain clean and distraction-free. Your feedback could help us rethink how menu items and Pro features are presented.

    3. Basic functionality roadblocks – We’ve usable core features in the free version (like product grids, templates, addons, etc).  Can you please share the specific issue that you’re facing the issue.

We’d still be happy to troubleshoot anything specific if you’re open to it, or pass along your thoughts directly to the product team for consideration.
