Doesnt it scan the full post for the image? i think it only scans the image as the first “element” and stops if there is text?

the problem with this is when themes display the featured image as well, so you get two of the same image at the top….

can you change it so it scans the whole post? this way if an image is at the end then the theme can insert its featured image at the top

    thanks

    Hi again, @expat.

WordPress makes a distinction between the images that appear in the post body and the featured image itself. This is quite obvious, because featured images have their own meta box in the post editor screen.

Our plugin scans the post content and looks for the first image that appears on it. If it finds one, the plugin sets it as the “external featured image” of the post and use it in the front end, assuming our plugin is compatible with your theme.

I agree with you that it’s a good idea not to use the first image in the post, but another one (the second? third? last?) if available, but unfortunately that’s not how our plugin works right now. I might implement this in a future update…

I’ll mark the topic as resolved, because we do scan the whole post and you’re actually asking for a new feature, not for support. But, again, thanks for the idea!

    Regards,
    David
