 * Should be a 1 star review, but here it is: Never experienced that a plugin is
not deleted but lives on when deleted in the admin plugin page! Still in settings,
still running! That´s really bad. I do not know which garbage it leaves when
I only delete the plugin folder now… I could – if this works – install it again
and delete it when you made a proper update of your plugin. Please react.

 * Hi,
   Thank you for reporting this.
 * First, I’d like to note that the behavior you’re describing is highly unusual.
It has not been observed in any of my testing or reported by other users, so
it is certainly not expected behavior and does not reflect the intended quality
   or reliability of the plugin.
 * The plugin should remove itself normally when deleted from the WordPress Plugins
screen, and I haven’t been able to reproduce the behavior you’re describing in
   my own tests.
 * Regarding the database, the plugin follows the data retention setting chosen
by the user. If “Delete data on uninstall” is enabled, all plugin data is removed
during the uninstall process. If that option is disabled, the data is intentionally
   preserved.
 * It sounds like there may be something specific in your environment preventing
the cleanup process from completing correctly. I’d be happy to investigate and
understand what’s happening on your site.
 * Could you please provide:
    - Your WordPress version
    - The plugin version you were using
    - Your PHP version
    - Your hosting/server environment (for example: shared hosting, Cloudways, WP
      Engine, Kinsta, etc.)
    - Whether any error messages appeared during deletion
 * If possible, a screenshot or short screen recording of the deletion process would
   also be very helpful.
 * You can also check whether any PHP errors were logged at the time of deletion,
as a fatal error during the uninstall process could explain this behavior.
 * I’d like to understand exactly what happened and see if I can reproduce it on
   a similar setup.
 * Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.

 * Could you please provide:
    - Your WordPress version
      7.0
    - The plugin version you were using
 * The last one- I always update on the same day. As it is deleted at least in the
admin plugin page, I do not know the version number.
    - Your PHP version
      8.3
    - Your hosting/server environment (for example: shared hosting, Cloudways, WP
      Engine, Kinsta, etc.)
 * Shared hosting
    - Whether any error messages appeared during deletion
      No
 * If possible, a screenshot or short screen recording of the deletion process would
   also be very helpful.
The deletion already happened, sorry 😉
 * You can also check whether any PHP errors were logged at the time of deletion,
as a fatal error during the uninstall process could explain this behavior.
   I
do not know where I should do this and I have no time for that, sorry.
 * Please, in return of my answer, tell me that all data of the plugin is removed
by deleting the plugin folder per FTP. I checked the deletion option in the plugin
UI (as I have still access…).
My advice: Don´t look for individual problems with
my setting: neither my website nor the host is problematic, there were no errors
with other plugins, deletion process or else. It should be found solely in your
   plugin.

 * Thanks for the additional information.
 * To answer your question: if the plugin folder is deleted manually via FTP, the
plugin’s uninstall routine is not executed. This is standard WordPress behavior
and is not specific to this plugin.
 * As a result, any data configured to be removed during uninstall will remain in
the database if the plugin is removed by deleting its folder directly.
 * Since you still have access to the plugin settings, my recommendation would be:
    1. Reinstall the plugin.
    2. Verify that the “Delete data on uninstall” option is enabled.
    3. Delete the plugin again from the WordPress Plugins screen (not via FTP).
 * That should trigger the uninstall process and remove the plugin data according
   to your settings.
 * Regarding the root cause, I understand your point of view. However, issues like
this are often the result of an interaction between multiple factors rather than
a single isolated cause. Even if there is something I can improve in a future
version, the fact remains that I have not been able to reproduce this behavior
in testing, nor has it been reported elsewhere so far.
 * That doesn’t mean the issue should be ignored. It simply means that whatever
triggered it appears to be relatively uncommon, and understanding the circumstances
is important before I can determine whether there is a bug to fix or an environmental
   factor involved.
 * I appreciate you taking the time to report it, and I’ll keep an eye out for similar
reports in case a pattern emerges.

 * I am deeply sorry. I was so wrong. I deleted another notes´ plugin and mixed
it with yours. I f I could delete this thread or if you can, this would be the
   best for all… 🙂
Edit: I asked the admins in a report that they should erase
this thread not to irritate your users. Perhaps you could add your opinion to
strengthen that. Sorry again for the trouble.

 * Thanks, Elchanan.
Unfortunately the mod wrote: “Unless it’s an extreme case,
topics are not deleted or edited.”Embarrasing for me, and I should have been
   more extreme… 😀 😀

 * Since the thread is apparently here to stay, I can think of one perfectly reasonable
way to balance the universe again:
 * Install my plugin, give it a try, and if you like it, leave a nice review. That
should more than cover the damages. 😉
 * In all seriousness, no hard feelings at all. Thanks for coming back and setting
the record straight – I genuinely appreciate it.

 * Sure, done! I liked the idea instantly when you mentioned it in the Facebook
   plugin group.
I deactivated it only because I had severe problems with my dashboard
and checked for the cause. But I then learned it was caused by a databank error
not connected to plugins, a damage by uploading a databank backup. I will check
your plugin, deleted the notes´ plugin I used 😉 and will give a nice review
then. What I am missing or overlooked is an option to create a fixed dashboard
widget (fixed like the other ones in the WP dashboard like WP news etc., not
like a note) with the opportunity to create a list of remarks in it (like the
competitor´s one does, you will know 😉 ). Perhaps this is possible, but I did
not find an option to do that. All the best for you

 * …just another wish: would you please lower the z-index of the pinned (or every?)
note so that it does not hide the WP admin menu on the left? Thanks!
