Support » Plugin: TF Random Numbers » Doesn’t count until scroll

  • Numbers sit at zero until you scroll. Same on their demo. So basically it doesn’t work, which is a shame.

    Hello,

Yes, numbers are triggered by scroll, once they come into view. So you do not miss the counting animation. That’s how plugin works, and it can be previewed on the demo. If you are looking for different functionality that does not means that my plugin does not work – it just does not work the way you intended it to work. That, as working product, should not deserve the 1 star.

It is quite incorrect to give a 1 star review for working plugin just for the reason it does not behave the way you wanted. I would be thankful if you would correct this unjust review, if you find something really not working with my plugin feel free to contact me and will fix it.

For additional functionality, like triggering the counting right after the page view there is an addon available.

    Warm Regards

I’m sorry that you feel that way but I can’t see any use for your plugin working the way that you describe, and I know of no other counting plugin that works that way either. Perhaps you had intended it for some other use?

The website loads… it looks beautiful… we want to show off that we have 95% satisfaction rate, instead it says satisfaction rate is 0%, until we scroll down the page. But the page is a short one and the website visitor has a large monitor, so they just see satisfaction rate is 0%. Can you see my point of view?

I’m sorry I didn’t contact you to point this out; perhaps you could add a flag to start count onload?

    Thank you for your reply,

Yes I see what you mean. But most of the users use it that way, as my plugin gives a lot of options for free plugin (you can go through reviews of many happy users). But as mentioned there is a an addon for additional functionality – for users that want some advanced options – http://themeflection.com/plug/controller-addon/, like starting count after page is loaded.

I would point you to this if you didn’t read the page with addons inside the tf numbers dashboard so we could avoid this 1 star rating.

I hope my plugin or one of it’s addons can match your needs, so you will change the review to something better then 1 star (as it is working product) =)

    Best Regards

Scenario 2: Counting numbers at bottom of long home page. Visitor to website starts scrolling down page slowly, they reach the numbers: they’ve already done their animation; what was the point of the animation?

Perhaps start of animation when numbers come into viewport is a paid for add-on feature, but I am reviewing the free plugin that you made available on the WordPress plugin repository. I hate that whole model because it doesn’t reward the hard effort of plugin developers such as yourself. I think free plugins should be banned and replaced by micropayments. Unfortunately, that is the world we live in and as a professional web developer I can see no circumstances where the FREE version of your plugin is of any use on a quality website. I emphasise again: reviews on the WordPress.org website are for the free plugin not the free plugin plus paid extensions. Which is a shame, because your plugin looks good: if and when it starts counting.

Of course you could offer that feature for free, but then you might struggle to get anybody to pay you for an add-on so you can be rewarded for your work. I’m sorry but I don’t have an answer to that. Cut down some other features? Only allow a certain number of counters? But having a counter that only counts on the scroll event isn’t a good approach and I stand by my review. I installed it, tried it, spent some time trying to get it working and then uninstalled it; a waste of my time, hence the low review to warn others of the problems they might not have thought of. Sorry.

    Hello,

    – Scenario 2: Counting numbers at bottom of long home page
That’s why numbers start counting only when the section is scrolled to, if you place it to the bottom of the page it will start counting only after you reach that section. That’s why it do not start counting immediately. You said it is useless because it did not start counting immediately, now you say it is useless if it start counting immediately ?

-Perhaps start of animation when numbers come into viewport is a paid for add-on feature
It is not paid feature at all, as discussed from beginning of our conversations. it seems you are determined to find my plugin useless and I won’t try to change your mind. As a one developer to another, thank you very much for your generous review of my free plugin 🙂

    Best Regards
