I’m not sure what is going on. I have tested this with a non-admin account so it simulates a normal commenter and it works. I just got an email from someone who has been trying to comment but he says it is ging an error message “Error: your answer to the humancaptcha question is incorrect. Use your browser’s back button to try again.”

I have confirmed that he was entering the correct answer with the questions I have loaded. I did change a few of your default questions to my own questions. The blog is http://www.milestothewild.com

There is some kind of copy & paste code under the Captcha question that isn’t on your screenshot. Could that be the problem?

Otherwise I love this plug in, have had no spam since installing it.

Interesting. I can’t leave a comment. I’m getting the monday, tuesday, … question. Can you check that the answer is still friday please, and that you haven’t changed it?

I can’t see any copy and paste code. Do you have a screenshot?

Have you tried it with a default WP theme and/or other plugins disabled, as it’s possible that something is conflicting with it?

Sorry for delay, too much work this week! I just tested it again on a different browser with a normal (not admin) email and I could comment. Yes, friday is still the correct answer. I changed a few questions to make them fit my blog’s theme (about birds) but still very easy questions such as how many wings does a bird have = 2. I only have this one blog but it’s using 2011. I think there was a few plug in updates since I posted this question so that probably got rid of the copy paste code. I have no idea how it was there but it’s gone now.

Hi there, I am having exactly this same problem. I tried with the Twenty Twelve plugin too and it doesnt work.

My blog is in Spanish, I dont know if you know the language to be able to test my own questions. If you like I can send you an email with the print screens of the correct answers so you can check its not working.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I’m experiencing the same issue now too. Doesn’t matter how I answer, everything is incorrect.

I think the biggest plugin update I did was bullet proof security.

Deleting and reinstalling this HumanCaptcha plugin didn’t resolve the issue.

    Nor did resetting the questions.

    No idea what’s causing it.

Thanks for making me aware of this – I am looking into it.

Not sure why this is showing as resolved – did anyone change the status?

If you are still having issues, please can you confirm that you have upgraded to WordPress 3.9 for me?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I find that this plugin reports correct answers as wrong but it seems to do it in a random, ad hoc way. If I type in answers one after another it works every time but if I wait a few minutes and then type in an answer it occasionally reports a correct answer as wrong. Which doesn’t seem to make any sense to me!

I am using it on a premium theme purchased from themeforest where I have had to play with the css to get the captcha to display correctly and I have changed one line of code in your plugin just to add an explanation as to what it is.

    Original code:
    $fields['obr_hlc'] = '<p class="comment-form-email"><label for="obr_hlc">'.stripslashes($question).'</label> <span class="required">*</span><input id="answer" name="answer" size="30" type="text" aria-required=\'true\' /></p>';

    Changed code:
    $fields['obr_hlc'] = '<p class="comment-form-captcha"><label for="obr_hlc"><strong>CAPTCHA:</STRONG> Prove You're a Human by answering this question.</br>'.stripslashes($question).' <span class="required">*</span></label><input id="answer" name="answer" size="30" type="text" aria-required=\'true\' /></p>';

As far as I can tell that should make no difference at all.

Everything installed is the latest version available.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Dave

Thanks for this. Which theme are you using? What happens with a standard WP theme, like TwentyThirteen? Also can you post a link to your site please, so that I can try posting myself?

    Regards
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the quick response.

I am using the X Theme from ThemeCo and I also have quite a few plugins installed (probably too many)- this is where the problem appears. I also have a test site set up with the Twenty Thirteen theme and only a couple of very standard plugins and your plugin works perfectly here.

It is no doubt a conflict with the theme or a plugin but it just seems very strange that it happens sometimes and not others.

    Hi Dave

If it’s working with Twenty Thirteen and a couple of plugins, then it’s a case of adding your theme and the other plugins one-by-one until you find which one is causing the problem.

    Regards
    Mike

    Hi Mike

I just thought I would let you know that since your last update I tried your plugin again and it now works every time without any errors. My theme has also been updated since I reported this error so where the original incompatibility lay I have no idea.

Just happy it now works and I can use your excellent plugin.

    Thanks very much.
