Does WP-Ban work on htaccess?

Before I install WP-Ban …. I’m looking for something to block the IP addresses of the k.daniel spamming. I was looking at Spam Nuker, but that warns that the htaccess may be impacted. I’m using htaccess, because my blog isn’t in the root directory, and don’t want to mess that up.

So, does WP-Ban do something to htaccess? I didn’t see a description of how it works on lesterchan.net .
