    Hello there,

Please let me know. If I have wordfence installed on my main domain, do I need to install it also in my subdomains (add-on domains)? or does the main installation in main domain automatically run scan, firewall, login limits, etc. in all subdomains (add-on domains)?

    Thank you.

  • Hi,
If you have “Scan files outside your WordPress installation” option enabled, then the scan will include your other sites directories on the same server, but you will not have options like: (rate limiting rules, firewall “some rules”, login security, alerts, etc…) for the sub-domains websites.

I recommend installing Wordfence and configuring firewall for your sub-domains sites first, then install it on the main website.

P.S. If you are running WordPress Network (Multisite) and these domains are mapped domains, then you have to install Wordfence on the main website only, not on every website in the network, check this article for more details.

    Thanks.
