Me too. I really should know this.
It seems not to work, at the moment. True?
Amp is initially intended for news sites/posts, so the plugin is setup for this purpose in the initial version.
Pages are not yet supported as noted in the docs for the plugin.
I was wondering for my webshop too.
In editing mode the product pages have AMP functionality and preview after installing the plugins needed for AMP.
The AMP finds all products and enables it for AMP.
But Google did not find AMP installed.
Publishing products as posts is like publishing news posts.
Will AMP function on other sites than news ?
I’m guessing this will be noted in the official AMP info, as to when various types of content will be indexed:
https://www.ampproject.org/docs/support/faqs.html
If you go to the github repo, it shows you how to (with code) add support for additional post types (such as woocommerce products or regular pages) but this will also probably require some additional code to display all the product-related content, since by default, it’s only going to display the post_content or post_excerpt.
Reading the description on the AMP project site, though, it looks like AMP is only really intended for news / articles, and that actual products wouldn’t have a place there.
Here is a link that furthers the case that AMP is not for products, but for content.
https://moz.com/community/q/google-amp-accelerated-mobile-pages-can-it-be-used-for-non-google-news-and-ecommerce-websites
So if you’re not already doing content marketing on your site, start doing that, and then you can take advantage of AMP.
Here is a plugin for AMP woocommerce
