Does this plugin submit my site to the search engines

    I believe that feature just notifies them of an “update” to your site… Its a vague statement.
    To get the maximum benefit out of creating an XML sitemap, you will want to physically submit it to google and other search engines. You can accomplish this with google through GWT.
