Support » Fixing WordPress » Does this piece of code look malicious/harmful?

  • Hi, really hoping for a bit of help here. Kind of freaking out.

    Basically, my site was going super slow today. So my webhost is investigating.

    Then I get a warning from my security plugin about an unknown file in wp-admin/php.ini

    The file contains this code. I removed my website name but left the rest..

    #PHP INI for WP 2 of 2
    display_errors = Off
    error_log = /home/REMOVED/public_html/
    log_errors = On
    error_reporting = E_ALL
    max_execution_time = 180
    max_input_time = 300
    max_input_vars = 4000
    memory_limit = 512M
    post_max_size = 128M
    upload_max_filesize = 128M
    sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i

    So I’m freaking out now. I’m hoping this might be code inserted by the team at my web host, as a part of their diagnostic process?

    But I have no idea. I’d really really appreciate if anyone has the knowledge and time to let me know if this seems malicious, or not?

    That looks like a totally reasonable php.ini file.

    Nothing to worry about. Malicious code would look like a long long long long chain of letters, characters and numbers. Most of the time you won’t even see it.

    Like Steven said. You’re safe

    Thanks guys! It was my web host support team testing for potential errors.
