Support » Plugin: MapPress Easy Google Maps » Does the job and simple to use

  • The free version of this plugin works well and is pretty intuitive to use…….it adds a module on the Post (and/or Page) edit screen (depending on how you have the plugin configured) for adding maps to any Post or Page…….just give the map a name, enter in your POIs (points of interest) or a latitude/longitude and it will display the map in accordance with the plugin’s other General Settings. If you want more, that’s what the Pro version is for.

I would like to see the developer add the option to have a “default” treatment for instances when a map cannot be displayed, something like a default image or editable text message (“map coming soon!”) – we have the shortcode built into our template and occasionally (for a variety of reasons) can’t display a map but to keep the layout looking right that area is styled in a specific way – so we have a big blank space where the map would ordinarily go. I’d like to be able to put something else there when a map isn’t present. I can do this with some tricky coding, but many WP users would probably like just a tickbox with the option of entering a URL to a default image or some text message to display instead.

All in all a great plugin and very sophisticated for a freebie…kudos to the developer!
