Support » Plugin: SiteGround Migrator » Does not work with GoDaddy; they charge for migration

  • Had a terrible experience with SiteGround support, who didn’t know why it wasn’t working with GoDaddy’s manged WordPress hosting. I finally figured it out, and their response was “it doesn’t work with all hosts, but you can pay us to manually migrate the sites”… not “we’ll fix it” or “I’ll tell our developers”. :/

    Here’s what I told them:

Ok, I know why the plugin isn’t working. It’s not looking in the correct place for the files. GoDaddy has a different file structure, so your plugin needs to ask if the site is at GoDaddy, and if it is, it needs to adjust where it looks for the files. I really think that since this is a problem with your plugin (that really should have been fixed already), that the migration should be free, or you should update your plugin so I can use it next week to transfer the sites.

“It appears the folder is being created but it’s not created at the path specified in the error log. The error log gives the error “ERROR: Cannot create directory: /var/www/wp-content/uploads/1606924302-d6a91a6e98f8d2ea3920a1aac05d408eca4759ca/sql.”

Our system is creating the folder but it’s creating it at “/home/z1g142024549913/html/wp-content/uploads/1606924302-d6a91a6e98f8d2ea3920a1aac05d408eca4759ca/sql.” Our Managed WordPress does not use the path /var/www. “
