Hello SomniumLucidus, thanks. I think custom post types can be possible for this widget as a future feature. I had some discusions about the category-post-widget and implementation questions, but as a medium term solution I’ll work on this.

Some “related posts” plugins I’ve seen are inflated with features and still don’t do the basics, which this plugin does!
I belive this is definately a need. looking forward to it.

Are you familair with GitHub? Because you can download the code there (https://github.com/DanielFloeter/same-category-posts) and copy it to your plugin folder ([your-wp-installation]/wp-content/plugins/category-posts-widget) to your wordpress installation.
