    Hey @dpknauss!

What are these Instant Featured Images that you are talking about?
I’m going to have to test compatibility with the “Require Featured Image” plugin, but I can’t guarantee compatibility with every third party plugin out there.

After you select an image, doesn’t it appear in the meta box?

    Regards,

Sorry, this was a while back and I’m not sure what I was trying to say then!

Yes, Instant Featured Images is a plugin: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/instant-featured-image/

It lets you “set an image as the featured image at the same time as you insert it into the post content” through the media manager panel. As I recall, if you have this plugin installed and use it to insert a featured image you just uploaded, it does not appear visibly in the featured image metabox on the post without a page refresh — which IIRC normally would occur unless your Drag and Drop Featured Image plugin is installed. So that’s an odd user experience, and it’s a real trap if you have a third plugin or function snippet set up to *require* a featured image to publish. Then WP is going to block you from publishing; you’ll have to save a draft, get a refresh, and then you can publish because the featured image is there and passes the check.

I fully understand you may not want to support compatibility with these other plugins, but if you do they would make a nice combination that simplifies the publishing workflow.
