Support » Plugin: Search Analytics » Does not track searches

I’m using toolset and it’s searchbox.
The search creates the following url: &wpv_post_search=test123 therefore the search does not get tracked.
When I change the URL to &s=test123 the search does get tracked.
    even &wpv_post_search=test123&s works.

    Question:
Can you add a feature to add custom search params as “wpv_post_search” for example to be compatible with third party plugins?

    Hello @coholm

I will add this to the next update change list.
Got a similar request from another user 2 days ago so it is definitely something that is needed.

I added it to the changes list for the next release which is planned for the next week. If you need a fix for this sooner, let me know and I can send you the code that needs to be changed in the plugin for it to work.

    Let me know.

    Have a great weekend!

thank you. I’ll wait for the update

I’m using wpforo forum that uses „?wpfs=searchterm“ as parameter to search the forum. It would be great to get your analytics here too…

    Hi @eblockerorg ,

Thank you for stopping by. I am working on a solution that will allow you to add custom search paramaters to work with the plugin.

Trying to get it all done today and start testing it tomorrow. That means a new version release will come out early next week.

V1.3.3 was originally planned for the 3rd of July but I was unable to finish everything on time so I have to delay it a bit. Apologies to @coholm for the delay.

    Hi @eblockerorg

I worked on doing the integration with wpForo. However, I learned that they are not using the standard WP search functions for pulling and counting the results and I need them to make a small addition to their code for being able to display the number of posts resulted in the search without having to rerun the database query which would ( probably ) slow down the results page – depending on how many posts your forum has.

I opened a new topic on their forum which you can see and track here: https://wpforo.com/community/wpforo-integration/integration-with-search-analytics/#post-43441

That being said, I don’t think that the wpForo integration will be done in this next update but, as soon as they reply and provide a solution, I will work on another update to adjust that.

@coholm testing on the new plugin version started today and I expect to roll out the new release today or tomorrow ( depending on the test results )

    Hi @coholm lucerovaldez

An update has just been released.
Please update the plugin and check it out. You will be able to find the new field in the settings panel. It should be pretty self-explanatory.

This feature is currently marked as experimental until we get some more feedback on it.

Please let me know if you find any issues with it.

@eblockerorg The guys at wpForo replied and said they will push the change I need with their next update coming sometime next week. Please open a new support ticket with the issue when they release the update and I will tackle it immediately.

Also, if you really like my plugin, I would really appreciate you dropping a review. It will help the plugin grow.

    Thanks a lot!
    Cornel

Thank you sooo much for your great support. We are looking forward to the update very much. And if the plugin is as good as your support is, you definitely deserve 6 stars!

    Hi @eblockerorg ,

I just checked and it seems that wpForo released an update for their plugin.
I will work on an update for ensuring compatibility with the wpForo plugin.

Hopefully I will be able to release it next week.

    Have a good day,
    Cornel

@cornelraiu-1 Thank you so much for your effort. You are doing great!!
As soon as you are out with the update, we’ll update wpforo too. After a major update (as with wpforo 1.8) the bug dust need to settle first 😉

    Thanks much again!!!

    Hello @eblockerorg ,

I just wanted to let you know that the new version that includes the WpForo integration is in the final stage of testing. The latest version can be found here: https://github.com/cornelRaiu/search-analytics

As soon as I am done with the testing, I will release it. If you wish and have the availability, I would really appreciate your help in testing the WpForo integration on a non-production website.

I will let you know when the release is out.

    Have a great day!
