Hi, Since a few months the plug-in doesn’t show the latest *imported* reviews. In the plug_in setup I can see there are 34 imported reviews but the webpage only shows the oldest 31. The newer three reviews are visible in the plugin settings, but I can not get the plugin to actually display the newest reviews.
I tried using errors=1 option in the shortcode but that didn’t show any notice of errors or something.
I am at a loss. How to fix this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@perfectpictures Thanks for letting me know about this.

Note the default sorting is by relevance and not age. If you want the newest reviews ensure that it’s sorted by submission date, descending.

The reviews collected by the Places API will have the highest relevance (so the top 5) irrespective of their age.

The error reporting only shows information if there’s an error or no reviews available. Checking Retrieved Data is usually much more informative.

Please let me know if this helps explains the way this works for you?

I have the setting newest to oldest. I counted the reviews on the web page:31. I counted the reviews in the plugin setting: 34. The latest three are displayed in the plugin settings screen. Two of them are already several weeks old, so it’s not caching somewhere. I played with the plugin setting and noticed the page changes, so that confirms that there is no caching problem somewhere.

If you look at the page, then in the sidebar you see a slider (sorry, another plugin) first displaying three reviews which are not visible on the oage. After those three, the slider nicely shows allreviews which are also visible on the page.

I go back to the plugin settings and all reviews are shown, including the missing three. So the import from Google is fine. It’s just not showing those.

@perfectpictures I have just checked your place and tested the HTML Import for the same. The Google Places API reports there are 35 reviews and I can retrieve the first, most relevant 5 through the API and the remaining 30 through the HTML Import.

When performing the HTML Import, did you assign dates (and less import, languages) to all of the reviews? The reviews all require a date so if this is not set for some, then your catalogue will be incomplete.

I recommend performing the HTML Import again (ensure you scroll down all the way to collect all reviews) and check to see if you can find the other 4 (I see 31 in the page). The other plugin shows approx. 20 reviews.

Also, note that any filtering will affect the number of reviews you see – this includes maximum word length or minimum rating (in the Setup tab).

@perfectpictures The database collation is causing the storage issue for some data containing certain characters. This applies to both the HTML Import and the standard Places API retrieval process.

    For your installation please enable:

“Clean Retrieved Data – Additional sanitization of retrieved data — emoticons are removed from text”

Here is a recommended Shortcode for your website:

    [reviews_rating icon=false name=false vicinity=false review_word="beoordelingen" more="meer"]
