    Hi @ludoviccharlier!

I ended up using Better Notifications for WordPress, and it works like a charm. Also, it lets you modify and send all kind on notifications, not just welcome emails.

The only thing it doesn’t include, it’s the ability to change the sender email address. For that, I’m using WP Simple Mail Sender.

    Greetings!

    Dear @chowkaideng,

Thank you very much for your answer, Better Notifications for WordPress works like a charm.

To change the sender email address, I used WP MAIL SMTP, you can change the sender email address AND put custom SMTP for transactional email (like Mandrill, Mailgun, etc..) :

    • Specify the from name and email address for outgoing email.
    • Choose to send mail by SMTP or PHP’s mail() function.
    • Specify an SMTP host (defaults to localhost).
    • Specify an SMTP port (defaults to 25).
    • Choose SSL / TLS encryption (not the same as STARTTLS).
    • Choose to use SMTP authentication or not (defaults to not).
    • Specify an SMTP username and password.

Thank you that you took the time for your answer.

    Have a nice day,

    Hello!
Thought i’d just chime in on this one – I’m the author of Better Notifications for WordPress.

BNFW does allow you to change the sender (from) name and email address for each non-transactional notification. Transactional notifications, such as the ‘Welcome Email’ can’t be changed in this way due to a restriction in WordPress. The reason why plugins such as WP Mail SMTP or WP Simple Mail Sender work is because they apply they have a blanket approach which changed the details of *all* emails sent out from WordPress.
If this works well for you though, then no need to change anything, just thought i’d like you know why this isn’t a feature in BNFW.

    Thanks!
    Jack

    Dear Jack,

Perfect. By the way, do you work freelance for custom development ?

    Greetings,

For some reason the test emails work when I used the Better Notifications plugin, but, when actually setting up new users, we’re still getting the system email (and no Better Notifications email as we had set up and tested). it just seems like the system is overriding Better Notifications when really setting users up. Please help.

Here is the message we keep getting instead of what we set up:

Normally when the stock email is sent it’s because another plugin is getting there first. The Better Emails plugin is pretty good actually.. mine was written a long time ago and I add to it when I can but Jack does a good job of supporting. I am, of course, keen to progress my own plugin but my general advice is that if it works then use it. If neither plugin works then I’d suggest a plugin or theme conflict. Try disabling other plugins and then testing this or the Better Emails plugin. Once you have figured out the conflict please post it back here as I’d be interested in fixing it! 🙂

thanks.. thanks also to Jack for chiming in.. you’re welcome here. I appreciate you providing a plugin that Ludo could use and keep his client happy.. we all need to make money and having the right tool for the job is essential.
