Support » Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps » Does not respect the groups access restrictions

  • Version is, WordPress 3.9.2, Apache 2.4

I use the groups plugin to have posts and woocommerce products that are only visible for certain user groups:

Groups defines the groups_read_post capability by default, which can be used to restrict access to certain posts or pages to groups with that capability only.

That’s exactly what I am doing. So these posts still formally have a public status (and not strictly private for all users), but they are not indexable to unauthorized users including search engine bots: These get a 404, whereas the certain authorized user groups can see the product.

This all works fine except for the Google XML Sitemaps plugin that still lists these access restricted products and posts. Any idea on how to fix this? I think that this plugin should only list publicly available posts that are accessibly to all anonymous users within its XML. Currently, it seems like XML Google Sitemaps lists all content that is available to the site admin instead.
