• We use Polylang. You can read up on how Polylang handles images:
    https://polylang.pro/doc/working-with-media/

Note that, when you translate a media, the file is not duplicated. The goal of the media translation is only to translate the text (title, alternative text, description…) attached to the media.

This is what we are using in https://polylang.pro/doc/working-with-media/#need-to-translate-media in order to only translate the metadata of an image, that is, the description or alt-text. But the image file is always the same.

So you have two content IDs (one for english, and say, one for french, etc) for media with different description, title or alt-text and both point to the same image file (URL).

Now what does Shortpixel do: It processes both content IDs. That is, the file is processed twice — that is for *all* thumbnails.

Seems like Shortpixel does not really play well with Polylang here. (not sure about wpml, if it is different there).

Is this a Polylang or more of a ShortPixel bug?

    Hi,
could you please contact us directly here with more details about your account @ ShortPixel so we can check your logs and try to figure out what happens?

Normally ShortPixel only optimizes once a single file listed in Media Library but if the same file on disk is linked from 2 different records inside Media Library then an unexpected behavior can occur.

    Regards,
    Alex
