Hi. I am not a very sharp wordpress user, but I managed to much sucess install the plugin and get everything fixed. Except that the photos does not display (everything else does). When I go into the photo gallery I can upload the correct picture, however, when I click “set feature image” it doesnt bring it “back” to the plugin so to speak. I can do everything but not add photos. I dont understand why it does not work. Can anybody help me? Thanks alot. Best regards
    Martin

  • Thanks for helping us figure it out! It’s the best looking staff list plugin option I’ve seen so if we can make it work to it’s full capacity that would be awesome!

I believe I’ve figured it out…will be pushing out a fix today.

    With the Sterling theme, it was that the theme was declaring theme support for post-thumbnails, but only for posts: add_theme_support('post-thumbnails', array( 'post' ));

And the plugin is simply checking for whether or not the theme supported post thumbnails. I’ll be updating the plugin to add theme support for post-thumbnails specifically for the ‘staff-member’ custom post type which should fix the issues.

    Hi hi
Thank you for your effort (and a great plugin). Unfortunately the image problem still exists in version 1.15.

I even tried setting the Sterling theme and the plugin up on a separate server and not working. I also tried disabling all other plugins with no results 🙁

I’m testing SSLP v1.15 and Sterling v2.1.4 and I am able to set new featured images for staff members without issue.

Make sure you have WP_DEBUG set to false in your wp-config.php file. There’s something funky going on with WP_DEBUG and this theme. I’ve found that if I have WP_DEBUG set to true in wp-config.php, then no images in my media library even show up when setting a featured image OR adding an image to a post.

WP_DEBUG was not present in the wp-config.php file making it default false. I however set it to false but no difference: I am still unable to set the image.

When I get the change I am going to remove SSLP and manually delete all entries from the MySQL database, then set up the plugin again. See if that does anything for me 🙂

Ok, well let me know if completely removing and reinstalling SSLP works for you. I’ve been in touch with the theme devs and alerted them to the WP_DEBUG bug.

I installed the update, and set the WP_DEBUG to false, and still could not load the pictures through my theme. HOWEVER, I found that the picture I loaded while my theme was set to 2012 was showing still when I switched my theme back to complexity. So I am just going to load the staff pictures through the 2012 theme. That seems to troubleshoot the issue fine for now.

    Thanks!

I deleted the plugin and all database entries and still the same results. I even set up a fresh wordpress installation on a seperate web server where I set up Sterling and Simple Staff List plugin and got the same result.
I sent you an access information via e-mail.

Yeah, I think in both of your cases, you may need to reach out to the respective theme developers to resolve the issue. Especially since my plugin functions correctly with the default TwentyTwelve theme.

@guðmundur Karl Einarsson: I still can’t duplicate the way your theme is behaving on my installation. I was able to login to your test environment and see the behavior but am unable to debug what’s going on.

I’m sorry I can’t help more right now.

    Hi hi
I thank you for your support, it has been outstanding, even if we have not been able to figure out the problem.

Please keep the issue in mind. Maybe you’ll dream the ultimate solution one day 🙂

No problem…I’ll definitely keep thinking about why this is happening, though.

I am using the Rescue theme at http://www.conwayanimalwelfare.org and seem to be having the same issue as BeccaFWCS. I, as well, was able to bypass the problem by loading the featured image while in Twenty-Twelve theme and then revert back to the custom theme. The image remains and displays, albeit less than desirably, but remains nonetheless.
