• When trying to log in wp does not accept my password. I have changed it, I created multiple new accounts, it does not work. What does wort is:

ERROR: The password you entered for the username -XXX- is incorrect. Lost your password?
I then get an email, can reset my pw and can access my blog. As soon as I leave, I cannot log in again, even if I haven’t even logged out.

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this?

Try resetting your password through other means http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

I have edited it in the PHPAdmin and it seems to ignore it.

Have you tried disabling all of your plugins?

    yes….. did not work either.

Just logged out, wanted to log in again, 1500% sure the the pw was correct, tried several times:
ERROR: The username or password you entered is incorrect. Lost your password?
But I entered what the PHP admin says, it is identical.
    I just can’t log back in….

When you say PHPadmin is identical, you are encrypting your password right?

    (@umptata)

    Yes, the encrypted version.

Again, I followed the “lost your password” link, got an email, entered the new(=old)pw, logged in successfully.
Logged out, tried to log in again – same procedure, I can’t log in.

What were you doing before the issue started?

No changes, not updates. it started when I tried to log into my account from my tablet which did not work, although I entered the correct password. As I hadn’t logged out the account on my PC there wasn’t a problem. I was first today I was locked out. I deinstalled two plugins and it worked fine.
Wonder if I should simply install the latest wordpress version again to fix this issue.

I’ve been facing the same issue since a week. WordPress stopped accepting my password. I am 100% sure I was entering the correct one. Anyways I decided to change my password, but it doesn’t accept my passwords. The error I keep getting is Sorry, but you must enter a strong password. But I am entering incredibly strong passwords with caps and special characters and which are longer than 9 characters.

I’ve been working on my site by accessing it through GoDaddy but it worries me that I’m locked out of WordPress… Any help? Any particular plugins I should check out? I’m not from a tech background. Would really appreciate some guidance. Thank you.

    @umptata
    Have you tried:
-deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

You can do this using ftp or the file manager your host provides.

    Please start your own thread.
Also, Sorry, but you must enter a strong password. is not a WordPress message.

@umptata, can you login to your account from your PC?

Try changing your security keys in you “wp-config.php” file. It will force all users to logout. Then try logging back in.

kmessinger, I did try that, did not help…

Marc, it is the same from all devices, PC, mobile, tablet. And I am under the impression that it started with my update to wp4.1, not sure though.

Disable WordFence by renaming wordfence-old. You do this with ftp or by using the file manager your host provides.
