 * Many WP plugins do not work with bbPress (2.5.4-5380).
 * My forums site really needs them. So far I must manually “fudge” the effect.
 * Many thanks for your advice, Anna

 * Hi Anna,
 * thanks for asking.
 * Unfortunately we have not tested our plugin together with bbPress. So either
   you wait till after my vacation on 16.09.2014 to let me test it, or you test
   it yourself.
 * No bad plugin interactions have been reported so far. I don’t know, why bbPress
   should be a rare exception 🙂
 * Have fun. I’ll get back to you.

 * Hi Anna,
 * thanks for your patience and sorry for taking so long to reply.
 * I’ve tested your case with bbPress and I’m sorry to report, that currently bbPress
   is not supported, as is the case with all custom post types.
 * Good news is: We’re working on a fix to support custom post types. bbPress uses
   custom post types and should therefore also work, as soon as the fix is published.
 * Would you be willing to beta-test-drive a new development version, as soon as
   it’s available?

 * I’d LUV to be your bbPress guinea pig! Footnotes for forum topics would be the
   answer to a prayer.
 * Please send the beta ASA it’s ready.
 * Thanks so much for your important work, Anna

 * Hi,
 * you can try the latest release version 1.5.5.
 * This version includes an expert mode to allow the user to change the WordPress
   hooks to be used for the Footnotes short code lookup.
    The default hooks are:
   the_content, the_exerpt and widget_text.
 * Activating **the_post** hook will (hopefully) search for Footnote short codes
   in each Post, Page and Custom Post Type.
 * So please try the following:
    Activate ONLY the **the_post** hook and check if
   the Footnotes are shown in your Custom Post Types.
 * Many thanks in advance.
    (We will setup a new WordPress for development purpose
   with bbPress installed and will try this too.)

 * I followed the instructions as closely as possible. When I deactivated everything
   except the_post and saved the changes, these “hooks”(?) automatically checked
   themselves:
 * the_content, the_excerpt, widget_text.
 * Here is the result:
 * [http://forums.typeheritage.com/topic/footnotes/](http://forums.typeheritage.com/topic/footnotes/)
 * BTW my settings should make the reference container appear at the end of the
   post. As you can see, it appears in the sidebar instead (twice!).
 * Thanks again for helping me, Anna

 * P.S. Maybe the above activation options re-enable themselves because I’m also
   testing this plugin with a standard WP “page”:
 * [http://forums.typeheritage.com/test-footnotes/](http://forums.typeheritage.com/test-footnotes/)

   ____
 * When I change the settings to place the reference container in the widget area(
   sidebar?), it doesn’t display at all.
 * When it does appear with the reference container placed “at the end of the post,”
   it lists non-existent identical footnotes.
 * Please hang in there, Anna

 * Hi Anna,
 * I am really sorry.
    One of these bugs is now fixed, you can deactivate (and activate
   again) WordPress hooks in the Expert mode.
 * Hooks are provided by WordPress to allow Plugins to ‘hook into’ the rest of WordPress.

   You can find detail information here: [http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API](http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API)
 * I guess the reference container appears twice because our Plugin found the short
   codes twice (in the_content/widget_text hook and in the_post hook).
