Hi and Thanks for this plugin. Working beautifully so far against ADP.

But, you know, when testing it today,
I could almost swear I saw it work earlier against the Disconnect software.

But when I checked again later it didn’t.

Can you tell me if I was imagining things? or does it actually work against Disconnect and I’m just doing something wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello,

I’ve never used Disconnect, so I can’t be 100% sure. However, I doubt Disconnect was the cause as it doesn’t work like a browser based ad blocker.
At the moment, Ad Blocking Detector only looks to see if bait content it injects into the page is blocked. Web browser ad blockers jump on the bait content and hide or remove it from the page. Disconnect apparently only blocks known malicious (trackers, malware, et cetera) items which the bait should not be.

If Disconnect did get flagged as an ad blocker, it should be consistent. The items Ad Blocking Detector look for do not change and thus Disconnect would analyze them every time and reach the same conclusion.

    Hope this helped!

Hi John and thank you for the response.

I gather when you say you’re doubting that “Disconnect was the cause”
that you’re referring to my mention of having seen your plugin work against it at some point?

So then, can I say that it’s likely your plugin Doesn’t work against Disconnect?

Correct, it is unlikely Disconnect would be considered an ad blocker by this plugin. Moreover, if it was, it should consistently get flagged as an ad blocker and work every time. I cannot be sure of this however. I do not have access to a computer capable of running Disconnect at the moment to test it myself and be sure.

Okay then. Thank you kindly for the responses John.

    Still a great plugin regardless.

    Enjoy your weekend! 😉
