 * this is what I am looking for
 * 1. When I add a new simple Product, it takes the next available number and puts
   it in the SKU.
    (if 00001234 is the last one used, then it will add 00001235)
   2. When I have a variable product, and add a new variable product item to a few
   already in there, it will takes the next available number and puts it in this
   variables SKU. Is this what it will do.

 * [@wealthy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wealthy/) Hey.
 * 1. Ordinary products are generated based on random numbers, not just numbers,
   depending on your settings. It can also be letters and prefixes. If you need
   exactly the order 001, 002, 003 – I can consider introducing such a function,
   and in the near future I will introduce such a setting. Please confirm if I understood
   correctly.
 * 2. Yes, exactly. Variable products change in order. Plug-in takes the main article
   and adds to it the numbers in order of your-product-1, your-product-2. In this
   case, I can also consider the function you need and implement it in the plugin.
 * I am currently working on a mass generation option

 * Hi Dan
    Thanks for your quick reply
 * Yes currently using my manual system I am up to 00001071. ( which is long and
   tedious)
    These are used as barcodes So am looking for a plugin that will auto
   add the next number when I add a product. If that product is a simple product,
   then it will add 00001072 and if I add a new variable product ( even if it is
   a complete new type of product, or adding onto an existing variable product),
   it will then add the next number as well
 * So whatever NEW product is added, it can add the next sequential number to the
   SKU field
 * I should add also that the first 2 zeros 00 are fixed numbers, then 6 numbers
   after that.
 * I guess even a button that is clicked to add the ‘next’ number incase there is
   a time to Not add one.
    I can not forsee this for me, but someone might want
   it.
 * Also I wouldnt want any previous number over written if I were to update a product(
   unless the button is pressed.
 * Hope this makes sense.

 * Your Screen shot with buttons would be ideal but with numbers only like I suggested.

   I guess this would be in the settings so the plugin would know what number to
   use.
 * From your screen shots you have pretty much all of it in place..
 * so plugin would need to know last known SKU number used and add +1.
    And never
   allow duplicates

 * In this case, I can offer the following … 00 you put as a prefix in the settings
   and also set the “Add product ID” option – [http://alexodlw.beget.tech/wp-content/uploads/2019-09-28_072803.png](http://alexodlw.beget.tech/wp-content/uploads/2019-09-28_072803.png).
   Setting the “Add product ID” option will exclude repeating SKUs
 * Also, the “Add product ID” option works in order, but now it is installed after
   the prefix, I can put it at the end and then your problem will be solved apparently.
   Or do you need to do it instantly based on your part numbers so that the plugin
   knows your previous article? In my opinion, I proposed a great option.

 * mmm looking at my last product id they are not in sequence.
    The last 3 go from
   7213, 7215 and 7218 then 7224 and 7228 Only currently having 1071 products, I
   am not sure when it started at what number. Guessing is it jumps a few each time,
   then this might explain why the number is now in the 7000s

 * Yes I am following you and if need be will stay on this til we can get something
   sorted.
 * My only thing is I need it to continue from 1071 ( or whatever it is at the time
   of adding a new plugin..)

 * [@wealthy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wealthy/)
 * Let’s do this to you. I’ll do an update now and put id at the end of the article.
   Further, during the day today, I will try to introduce a new option that will
   see your last added article and add + 1.
 * By the way, the ID will be updated in order, that’s for sure. Perhaps you create
   a product, then cancel, or you open several tabs. Each pressed button to create
   a product will add +1 to the ID, even if you do not save the product.

 * Would be nice..
    But I would need it to continue from my already set number.
   being at this stage 00001071 or more.. prefix of 00 then 6 numbers after it
 * I am in no hurry. As it is doesnt have to be done right now. But if you could
   look at my proposal then that would be great.
 * Also product ID is 4 numbers. ( plus my 00 makes 6)
    I need 8 ( including 00
   at the beginning) so 6 numbers after that.
 * What happens when ID gets to 9999? does it then go into 10000 and 100001 etc..

   if so then I would have to watch for this and change length to 5 numbers or which
   ever to keep it at 8 in total
 * Thanks

 * Updated the plugin. The ID is now at the end of the article. I will try in the
   near future, most likely today, to introduce a new function that you need.
 * Do not forget to leave a review it will help me a lot.

 * [@alexodiy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/alexodiy/) Do not post review
   links with `?filter=5` in the URL. That hides the non-5 star reviews and is being
   a little dishonest. The reviews default to 5 stars and you do not need to hide
   the other reviews that way. In have removed your link.

 * [@jdembowski](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jdembowski/) Well, the same
   WooComerce did just that) Why does this comment apply only to me) Well, I’ll

 * That’s not at all true and I’d appreciate that you don’t act like it is. If _anyone_
   did that in the last 6 months they would get that reply from me.

 * Wow Dan.
    You mean the function to add my own numbers. Starting at a number and
   increasing sequentially up from there and being unique?
 * And dont Worry Dan, You will get a 5 Star review from me because of your instant
   replies and instant help.
