# Does Hosting Affect “Increased Attack Rate” situation?

 * Hello – I have various sites on a few different hosts.
 * I get the “increased attack rate” message occasionally on a variety of sites.
 * I was curious if the server the site sits on has anything to do with that? Does
   a shared server mean you’ll generally get more of those or is that totally unrelated?
 * I have moved some sites from a VPS to a shared reseller and the one thing I HAVE
   noticed is a lot more brute force attack attempts than on the VPS. But I wouldn’t
   say the VPS gets any less “Increased Attack Rate” messages, so not sure if it
   has anything to do with anything. 🙂

 * I know seeing this can be alarming. But the attack attempts doesn’t have anything
   to do with whether they’re on a shared server, or VPS. For the lack of better
   words, these are random and usually move on after X amount of after being unsuccessful.
   There’s only so much we can do to prevent attacks, it’s more about making sure
   they aren’t successful which it sounds like Wordfence is doing.
