Support » Plugin: BackUpWordPress » Does half the job

  • I found it very easy to create a backup. The downside is restoring the backup. We moved to a new Web Host and there were problems that meant one of our sites went down (still trying to move the other one).
WordPress will not restore the site from the backup because it is the wrong format. There is an Export and an Import feature with WordPress but we relied on the backups. Now we can’t access the site and we had to rebuild the site. What is the point of creating backups for WordPress when WordPress does not recognise the format? We might be able to use the backup in cPanel but that is a lot of messing around for people that have basic website development and support skills.
For the other site, we have also exported the whole site and will be using the WordPress Import feature.

If I am missing anything obvious, please feel free to point it out.

  • Actually it does a very good job. How were you trying to restore your web site? You should definitely do it through cPanel. If you have little skills in this field, maybe you shoulnd not use this plugin.
