Does Flash work in WordPress??

  • Hello all!

I know this question has popped up numerous times; I’ve read countless forums and have tried every plugin and such I can get my hands on. All I’m trying to do is get a Flash header to load properly. All I’ve been able to get is just a white box. If I right click on the box, I get all the usual options that you would if it were a normal flash component.

Im modifying this theme for a friend of mines band. He and the band is really into Flash, and I dont want to disapoint. If anyone can help me, I’d be most grateful…even if its directing me to a thread thats already covered this (I’m pretty sure I looked through them all already).

    Thanks~!

Flash works just fine if you use proper markup. It also helps to provide the full URL to the flash object.

You have the “object” but not the “embed”. That’s probably why it’s not showing.

I’d say that, for best results, use swfobject. Helps get it all right, and make it valid.

You should never, ever, use an “embed”. It’s invalid code in all forms of HTML and XHTML. Stick with pure objects.

The swfobject javascript is a decent compromise.

Yeah, I’ve read several posts with Whooami roasting those using the depreciated tag. I’ve been trying this for days now…and it turns out it was just a permissions error with my hosting. ::sigh::

Thanks everyone, especially Whooami for keeping us all on track.

    Cheers!
