• I find that jetpack is bundled with every automatic installation of wordpress that I’ve gotten at several hosting companies— as if it is a ‘universal plug-in’ that everyone uses to add functions to wordpress. Over time, I’ve had conflicts with certain plug-ins and I’m wondering– jetpack does SO many things— it is something that ‘newbies’ use, that experts dump? Or is it something that has nothing but positive to add to a blog?

  • I run around 10 sites with WordPress (including 1 multisite) and the first thing I’ve dumped every time is the Jetpack plugin. It doesn’t really add any functionality that I need. I and my users get along fine without it.

That said, I’ve never seen it get a lot of positive press. There are plenty of mentions of problems with it, but when it does work, it either does it so well that people don’t notice, or it doesn’t do it in such a spectacular way that people feel the need to mention it.
