Does Clone & Replace clear the shortlink?

I am using Jetpack Publicize to post links to Facebook as the stories are posted to my site. It uses the “shortlink” (wp.me shortened URL) as its link when it generates a post.

Even though I’m generating a new slug as the first step when I start working with a cloned post, it appears that the shortlink goes back to the original post rather than the new post.

You might have reasons for this related to the versioning…or not.

If the latter, is it possible to add code to your plug-in that would trigger regeneration of the shortlink?

Or of course am I overlooking a setting that would make this happen?
