I would like to ensure I collect donor addresses if they allow me. I have enabled this in GiveWP but noticed that PayPal has the same fields when donor is directed to PayPal. I don’t want the donor to duplicate efforts. If I remove the fields from GiveWP and the donor adds this info on the PayPal credit card info side and clicks share, will I still be able to track this in GiveWP? Or what is usually best practice?

    Hi @douglasped,

This is a bit of a limitation of PayPal itself, here.

Some PayPal accounts allow for collection of the billing info if the donor wants to give via card without logging into PayPal (after GiveWP has redirected them to PayPal already).

Some accounts at PayPal do not have that ability.

But none of the types of PayPal account allow for the transmission back to GiveWP of additional data added during “checkout” (for lack of a better term). That’s a limitation from their side.

Most of the time, the billing info should be pre-populated using the values that the donor submitted to GiveWP on that redirected page, though. So there’s no duplicated work for donors. If that’s not what you are seeing, it may be a result of something happening on your PayPal account. See the Donations vs Payments FAQ here for different ways you can configure things to see if it makes a difference: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/payment-gateways/paypal-standard/

    Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback; however, that page doesn’t provide much input other than connectivity with PayPal only necessitates input of one’s PayPal email address. The link given that goes to the PayPal site for further information, I have already done and talked to PayPal. However, the donate now button only links to a PayPal login page (person has to login or create account with PayPal). I’ve opened a question regarding this issue under title “GiveWP uses PayPal email address but PayPal says must create a button”. Would appreciate any input since apparently, just clicking on the GiveWP button doesn’t work.
