    Hi,

I’ve recently been reading up on JSON-LD and noticed Yoast SEO actually automatically inserts some into the homepage. Thing is, there’s no way to control it that I can see. There’s also no documentation on it that I can find.

At the moment I would just like to understand how the plugin is generating it, but ideally I’d like to be able to control it, extend it, manipulate it etc.

Will this be possible and is there any way to find out how the plugin currently uses JSON-LD? Also what does the future roadmap look like for implementing it across other areas of a site?

    Thanks

  • Hi Xavvi. Well, the Yoast plugin is nice in some respects but is the worst when it comes to adding structured data markups to a site. As you can see, it adds unnecessary and usually incorrect markups throughout the site. They can be removed (I do it all the time for my clients), but it involves editing the plugin files.

Another option is to remove the plugin entirely and use a different one for your SEO, then add the markups to your site manually. That’s more work but it’s really the only way to make sure that they are correct and as extensive as you’d like them to be.

    I hope that helps.
