    I’m running WordPress 4.4 and Document Gallery 4.1.6

    Since my upgrade, my pdf thumbnails disappeared so I was going to manually upload thumbnails (Also to avoid them disappearing with the next upgrade). When I’m in Edit Media and go to the “Thumbnail for Document Gallery” area at the bottom nothing works.

    I click on the Select File button and it doesn’t do anything. If I try to drag and drop the file on the bar, it just opens the image I’m trying to add in a webpage.

    I’m not that great at web stuff but I looked around and can’t find a solution, should it fix the problem to just deactivate and reactivate the plugin? Or reinstall it? I won’t lie, my fear is that something crazy will happen and break the site.

    Hi Sur,

    If you go back to your gallery do the thumbnails not re-generate? If not, my first recommendation would be to uninstall, then re-install the plugin. It is possible that the plugin cache got corrupted at some point and this would knock things loose.

    That said, we are looking into the issue with you not being able to manually upload thumbnails. Can you tell me what browser you are using? We’re not yet able to reproduce the issue here, though there is another issue close to what you’re experiencing that could be related.

    Thanks!

    If I go to the gallery via the Insert Media, it’s just a spinning wheel that spins forever. (something else I’m trying to figure out) I can upload new files into the gallery, but can’t see what’s already uploaded. I guess that might affect it. I will try re-installing the plugin.

    As for uploading the thumbnails, I have used both Chrome and Safari, although primarily Chrome.

    Hi Sur,

    What you describe is very likely an issue with something outside of DG. My recommendation is for you to disable all other plugins except DG and switch to a default theme and verify that the issue disappears. Assuming it does, you can then re-enable plugins one-by-one until the issue re-appears and at that point you’ll know which one is the culprit.

    I have the same problem and it started with that same update. I have been waiting to see if anything changes, but I still can’t generate the thumbnails again.

    Can either of you tell me what browser you’re using? We cannot reproduce anything like this locally.

    Also, Daniel, can you please perform the test described above for Sur? Disabling all plugins and switching to a default theme to see if the issue persists.

    I am using iceweasel (firefox on debian), but this is almost certainly server-related.

    I deleted all the thumbnails on the settings and opened the page to generate them again, but I always get default PDF image instead: http://lisboa.verbumdei.org/newsletter/
    The logs show just a repetition of these messages:
    (DocumentGallery::doShortcode) Generation Time: 0.00 s
    (DocumentGallery::doShortcode) Generation Time: 0.00 s
    (DG_Thumb::initThumbs) Populating thumbnail cache

    I am a bit reluctant doing that, because this is running on a production server. I can’t install there another WordPress instance because I don’t have that kind of access to the server.

    Maybe this is also relevant information: The plugin says that ghostscript is not available ant that it is using imagick.

    Hi Daniel,

    You are indeed correct. I thought you were mirroring the issues with the “Insert Media” dialog reported by Sur, which is definitely a client-side issue.

    This issue is server-side and related to another issue reported here, which I’ve just resolved. I’ll have a new version out shortly.

    Thanks so much for your patience in this matter!

    My bad, I misunderstood the original question.

    Thank *you* so much for your work!

    My pleasure! 🙂 Release has just been pushed out (4.1.9). Please let me know if you still have issues after the upgrade.

    Updated and is now working 😀
