Can wp search only in one or two category(in database)?

Maybe sounds silly to put this question to you guys, but I just can’t find a correct answer. I am working on a site with sales, and this wordpress site can get up to 50,000 or 100.000 posts(products, etc…)
I am looking for a search schema for wordpress search structure and how search worsk…
The question is: Can wordpress filter the posts by category?
For example: if the user select a category in what to search, can wp search only in one or two category(in database)? This is for speed-performance. If yes, this will be a good news, if not…. doesn’t matter anymore… 😃

Yes its possible.
If you are searching for a plugin.

Thanks for this answer. So WordPress does not search the entire database yes, it is just searching for the post with the selected category yes? Is that what you mean…?For ex: I have this “https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-filter/” I write them(2 weeks ago), but no answer yet…
