• Placed numerous donation request links inside plugin.
Even asked donations by popup ads via hidden codes inside plugin.
Aggressively manage his plugin reviews by asking or begging.
Plugin itself is simply a frame as in a web editor. Honestly poorer than a frame.

    Do Not Use This Plugin!!

    Hi fmvjackson,

thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, I really appreciate it!

However, I strongly disagree with what you are writing, and I’ll gladly explain the reasons below.

First of all, nowhere am I “requesting” donations! Particularly, nowhere is TablePress requesting donations in a “popup ad”, and there is no code (neither “hidden” nor visible) for that in the plugin! All that TablePress does in the notice after a plugin update or after using the plugin successfully for a certain period of time is to encourage users to think about supporting further plugin development and tech support with a donation or review.
Nobody is forced to do this, and the messages are gone with one click! TablePress will of course continue to work fine!

I do this in order to be able to not just invest large amounts of my free time into enhancing the plugin and adding new features, but also to be able to give countless hours of free, fast, and accurate support here in the forums and by email. It is not uncommon that I answer questions within hours, sometimes even minutes. (I replied to your question a couple weeks ago in less than eight hours.) Often, I even take the time to log in to a user’s site to find the cause for an issue — which sometimes was not even be caused by TablePress — or to make special customizations to the code for some users.
In my opinion, it’s only fair to suggest that users leave a review in return, or support the further development of the plugin in other ways.
This also allows me to work on several TablePress Extensions that add further functionality to the plugin, and that are available for free on the TablePress website.

Then, I’m not really sure why you compare TablePress to a “frame in a web editor”. That is not what it is or does. I’m especially surprised here, as just back in September you were so happy with the plugin that you called it an “almost perfect plugin” in your support question.

Therefore, I’d really be interested in hearing why you are suddenly saying “Do Not Use This Plugin!!”. I can’t imagine that this is just from how I handle giving free support here in the forums. If you are experiencing other problems with TablePress, just let me know, and I’ll gladly take a look and try to fix them!

    Thank you very much!
    Best wishes,
    Tobias

FVMjackson, what is wrong with you? why would you post such a negatively scathing review that is filled with overtly false complaints.

This is the rare case where a developer posts completely free open source software, and supports it himself…well.

Tobias supports his user base himself better than some large companies with entire call centers manage to support their products.

I don’t think it is even remotely unreasonable for him to offer a convenient way for his user base to offer renumeration to him for a product that works well, and is supported well. If you think asking for a review or a donation for his FREE work is wrong, then you are as dumb as you are rude.

I think you are a jerk for posting this, and to all that might read this comment, please know that it is baseless and completely untrue and the plugin works beautifully!

Just wanted to say that it is really unfair to say that he places donation request, I have been using this plugin for long time including (wp-table) and now the table press,

Tobias is a person who responds to almost all the query that we post in and also ready to help with any problems that we are facing. Actually its unfair for him to give this plugin for free and with such a great support.
