Support » Plugin: WordPress Download Manager » Do not buy pro version

  • The free version is fine as these things go, but all the features I needed were in the pro version, so I bought it. I’ve never had a good update experience with this product. I always have to download the latest version and reinstall it, which is a pain. Except now I can’t download anything.

I had no idea I would only be able get updates for a year. I’m used to support expiring after X amount of time after I purchased plugins, so that I expected. But updates expiring? Really? You’re not buying a plugin, you’re subscribing to one, and I’m not prepared to pay $99 a year to manage downloads. I may have failed to read the fine print a year ago or perhaps they changed their terms (since their current terms allow them to change them at any time without notice), but I’d have never chosen a plugin on a subscription-to-update model. Certainly not one at this price point.

I suppose I can keep using the old version of the plugin, which will likely stop working properly with wordpress at some point, plus I’ll have the plugin update notification sitting there forever and be unable to do anything about it, or I find something new now. So that’s what I’m going to do.

Also, I had very briefly considered renewing but hit broken link after broken link trying to find information on their site. I posted in their forum and got no response.

So use the free version but don’t get sucked into buying this plugin unless you want a high-priced annual fee, poor support, update issues, and broken links.

Hi, You should be able to update plugin like any other plugin:
For that, you need to login to your account from Admin Menu >> Downloads >> Settings >> Update
We reply in the forum with 24 hours, but if you need emergency support, you may mail us anytime at

And we mentioned about support and update period on the product page, cart page and on the terms page. It’s simply like any other similar plugin in the market.
