We block spam differently from Akimset. This is one of those rare times I tell you its cool to use two things that do the same thing :).

Hello, I am using Wordfence now, but had been using Akismet for a long time and loved it! The problem is that since I installed Wordfence, my Akismet plugin seems to have gone crazy. Instead of automatically detecting spam, I have started to get every single spam comment in my email for me to moderate manually.

Do you think Wordfence might be causing this?

    Thanks

@patigiral: I haven’t heard of that happening before — you could try turning off the anti-spam features in Wordfence temporarily, or checking your Akismet settings. I have heard of someone “losing” their Akismet key before, which might be the problem.

If you still have trouble and find that disabling the Wordfence comment features helps, please make a new post using the form at the bottom of the Wordfence forum here. (The wordpress.org forum rules ask us to keep people’s requests separate, and it helps us keep track of open issues as well.) Thanks!
