Do I need to install 2.0.6? (7 posts)

I have not yet installed 2.0.6, and now I see that 2.0.7 has been released. The development blog says "Because this is a much smaller update than previous versions, you do not have to update all of WordPress’ files if you’re upgrading from version 2.0.6."

Since I am not upgrading from 2.0.6, should I install that first and then install 2.0.7? I'd appreciate a clarification, thanks! My blog is http://table4five.net

No, just install 2.0.7 (from 2.0.4 what you have).
Install ALL the files and follow the usual instructions - see the Codex.

Just to clarify, you need to do a FULL install of 2.0.7 not just the small file set that is listed as the upgrade.
Do to the download page, and download the latest.zip file, then follow the instructions for an upgrade.

the upgrade has been pretty flawless for me on my blogs. i just delete the theme folder and upload the rest of the files. as simple as that.

Hi! I'm Mr. Harold R. Pal. I just want to answer your query about if still have to install WordPress 2.0.6; before installing the new release version of it.

Well, actually, as with most released softwares, you do not need to install version of 2.0.6; if you are planning to use its new released version, that is WordPressv2.0.7. Like you, i am new also to WordPress; but I encountered no problem during installation. Just follow and read all instructions in Getting Started with wordpress http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress; and steps on How To Install WordPress as it was provided from their site itself http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress.

Moreover, you might only noticed that Side bar menu list may not found under Presentation as it was mentioned in other documentation particularly in http://wordpress.com/features/sidebar-widgets/. But, we are not the only one who have been experiencing the same problem. As you would notice also in many forums particulary in http://wordpress.org/support/.

Maybe plugins might resolve our problems about side bar.

We appreciate your good intentions to help, just please, don't give false information: whatever is at the wordpress.COM site is not necessarily true for wordpress.ORG (here, where we talk now).

If you want sidebar widgets in your blog > read:
    http://automattic.com/code/widgets/

And just a note: the OP (original poster) is NOT starting a new blog, is upgrading one - and I gave hime exactly the right link for the upgrade guide in the Codex.
